The First HollaBack STL Curve The Urge II Summer Academy Was A Success.

This Summer, HollaBack STL hosted the Curve The Urge II Summer Academy in June and July.

Classes we held at the University Of Missouri- St.Louis and students spent two weeks with HollaBack STL. During the two weeks students were introduced to Curve The Urge II where we cover issues that teens are dealing with. These issues include learning how to develop and maintain healthy relationship, success planning strategies, dating violence prevention and more.

During their time on campus students were able to enjoy other activities as well. The first day began with a scavenger hunt around UMSL's Campus to introduce them to the different offices and resources UMSL has to offer.

Later in the week local Yoga instructor Nico Marie extended her services to our students by guiding them through a mediated Yoga session. Teaching them how to decompress, relax and refocus after a hard day.

We were also joined by Lawrence Lewis-Hudson from Washington University's- The Spot, to speak to students about HIV/STI prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Students were also able to enjoy an entrepreneur day. This was to give them insight to what it would be like to start and maintain their own businesses. We were joined by a wide variety of guest including Ymani Wince -owner of Noir bookstore, Alex Don-local photographer and owner of Alex Don Studios, Jasmine Armstrong- the creator of Jigga Juice, Destini Clark- local makeup artist and creative director, Trey- owner of DNA STL a local clothing boutique and Sierra Whitney -local event producer.

The event was a success! Check out our Instagram for more pictures and videos.
